C J

CJ is originally from Salt Lake City and brings a powerful story of resilience, transformation, and hope to his work as a Peer Recovery Coach. After spending 11 years in active addiction and using nearly every substance imaginable, CJ experienced firsthand the devastating impact addiction can have on every area of life. During that time, he spent approximately three and a half years incarcerated and often found himself homeless, sleeping behind dumpsters and in stolen cars while struggling to survive.
Today, CJ has nearly four years in recovery and is living a life he once believed was out of reach. At 31 years old, he is nearly free from legal system involvement for the first time in his adult life and has discovered a level of happiness, peace, and contentment he never knew was possible. His journey from addiction, homelessness, and incarceration to stability and purpose serves as a powerful reminder that lasting change can happen.
CJ chose this career because someone once extended the same support, guidance, and belief in him that he now has the opportunity to offer others. With much of his family also finding recovery, he has witnessed firsthand the transformative power of healing and community. He is passionate about helping individuals discover hope, build meaningful lives, and realize that recovery is possible regardless of where they start.
CJ believes that while every recovery journey is unique, no one is beyond change. His lived experience, authenticity, and commitment to serving others make him a valued member of the Freedom Recovery team and a source of encouragement for those seeking a new way of life.
