J'Rell Anderson

Originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, J’Rell’s life journey has been shaped by challenges that ultimately led him toward recovery and a desire to help others. For several years he struggled with active addiction, which resulted in difficult decisions and consequences, including spending about ten years incarcerated over the course of his life. During that time, he had many opportunities to reflect on the direction his life was heading. There were moments when he deeply needed help but felt like no one was there for him, and that experience of feeling alone continues to shape the compassion and understanding he brings to others today.

About four years ago, J’Rell made the decision to fully commit to recovery and began rebuilding his life with a renewed sense of purpose. Today he serves as a Peer Recovery Coach and Qualified Behavioral Health Assistant (QBHA) with Freedom Recovery, where he uses his lived experience to support and encourage others facing similar struggles. J’Rell believes no one should have to walk through their darkest moments alone, and he is committed to offering empathy, guidance, and hope to those working toward healing, growth, and lasting recovery.
