Maurice

Maurice is a proud girl dad, to a beautiful 11 year old. He loves music, adventure and making others laugh. Hes a barber, a movie buff, and a licenced skydiver. Maurice has had a long history with addiction, totaling 27 years. Knowing something had to change, he took the steps towards recovery. In August of 2023, after spending six months incarcerated while questioning what the outcome of his life would be, he felt fortunate to be accepted into Drug Court, ultimately saving his life. Maurice has been sober since August 9th, 2023. Along the way, he's learned that recovery isn't a destination, but a journey that doesn't stop when life gets better. Maurice has said "recovery has taught me to live life on life's terms, face challenges instead of running from them, and respond to difficult situations in healthier ways. It has taught me patience, accountabiility, humility, gratitude, resilience and the importance of continuing to grow." He knows that he cant control what happens to him, but he can control how he responds. He aspires to help others along the same path, to help them find themselves beyond addiction. To walk along side a person to create a life that they genuinely want to live.
